Hello

Thanks for being a Masks for the Frontlines Iowa Sewist

We receive orders from Iowa organizations and post them on our SignUp website.  You can signup for however many masks you can make.

All masks must be made per the pattern, pre-washed to avoid shrinkage, and no up-cycled materials.

Once you are done,  fill out the Completed Mask Form so we can close the order.

Fabric can only be used for our orders and is first-come, first-serve only.

You can only get 5 yards of fabric at a time.

We have sewing tips to our facebook page and will continue to add more.  If you can't find the answer in our sewing tips section, please post your question in our facebook group.

The best tips are:

  • Follow the pattern
  • Do not include nose pieces or filters in the masks
  • No up-cycled material
  • Fabric must be new 100% tightly woven cotton (quilters cotton is best)

The masks we're making are going to frontline workers who are working 12-hour shifts in the emergency room, delivering food day-in and day-out, etc.

People are coming up with lots of creative styles and materials.  Those may work great for the everyday person who is wearing their mask for an hour at the grocery store but they won't hold up over time for our frontline workers.
